Wedding Photography at Langley Castle - Fiona & David's Fab Day

Fiona and David are one of those rare couples who book me to shoot their wedding without actually meeting me. Now, I think that one of the most important things about choosing your wedding photographer is to make sure you 'gel' with them; that there's a synergy, that you're singing off the same hymn sheet. So I try to meet in person with all my wedding couples, to make sure that they're choosing the right photographer when they choose me.

Now a face to face meeting isn't always possible. Like, when a couple live in London……or on another continent for instance (which has happened quite a few times!).

This however wasn't the case with Fiona and David, who live just the other side of the river Tyne from me. The problem was a massive car accident that happened just before we were due to meet up. Fiona was OK, but David was seriously injured and hospitalised for quite some time. As excuses for not making a meeting, this is a pretty good one. So, after a few chats on the phone, Fiona decided I was the right photographer for them, and off we went.

As you can see, their wedding in June last year at Langley Castle was a truly happy affair - the day was so full of smiles and emotion. I only fully understood why when it came to the speeches. Turns out that the car wreck was caused by a blow-out. In the split second after the tyre went, David (who was driving) deliberately turned the car so his side took the impact, which probably saved Fiona's life in the process. Needless to say, not a dry eye in the house when this was revealed. It also revealed the depth of their love for each other, which I hope I've captured in some of the 'smiliest' wedding pics I've ever shot.

David's recovery was slow but steady, and his aim was to lift Fiona off the ground during their 1st dance, which he duly did!!

Oh yeah, and there was a bird of prey to deliver the wedding rings, which didn't go quite according to plan….but that's another story!
