Liane & Ash at Langley Cstle

Liane and Ash chose fantastic Langley Castle for their autumn wedding……and to add a twist to the day they decided on a Halloween theme….well, they did get married a day or so after All Hallow's Eve. They went to fantastic lengths to tie in all the little details of their day to a 31/10 feel; everything from Ash's cufflinks to Liane's shoes and earrings! Read on for more details…..

Trumpet Blowing Time!

Being a typical Englishman, I’m usually somewhat reticent about singing my own praises. However, this piece of news means an awful lot, so thought I’d share it; I've received an award in the latest WPJA contest!

"The Wedding Photojournalist Association proudly recognizes
(bless, they are based in America!) the accomplishments and creative excellence of Jonathan Brown. These achievements come with great merit considering the high level of competition that a member faces in the contests."

Wow…to say I’m pleased and chuffed would be an understatement! The WPJA quarterly contests are hotly contested by thousands of extremely creative wedding photographers from around the globe, so to be recognised amongst the top 20 in the world is pretty pleasing….see, there’s that English understatement again. ;-)

You can see the award winning photo here. Follow the link below and then click on ‘Contest Winning Photo’ link:

A Great Start To 2013!!

OK - here we are halfway through January, and our New Year resolution starts NOW!!

We’re absolutely going to blog on a regular basis this year, and to start with, here’s Lovely feedback today from two of my December wedding couples:

"Lynz and I would like to extend ENORMOUS gratitude for your excellent service on our wedding day. You were really fantastic with everyone, and many guests have commented on how incognito and discreet you were throughout the duration. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts." and

"The wedding was perfect and we are really happy that you were our wedding photographer".

Thanks guys! December weddings are always amazing and I had a great time photographing both your weddings at
Langley Castle Hotel and Jesmond Dene House.

As soon as I’ve finished the edits, we’ll get some examples up here; in the meantime, suffice to say both sets of pics look fab!!

More soon.

International Recognition for Jonathan's Wedding Photography

Wow, wow, wow!!! I’m incredibly excited to learn that, after vigorous vetting, I’ve been accepted as a member of the prestigious and internationally renowned Wedding Photojournalist Association. Membership is so tightly controlled that there are just 95 members throughout England and I’m the only one between County Durham and the Scottish Borders! I’m immensely honoured that the quality and style of my wedding photography has been recognised in this way.

The WPJA website explains that it “only accepts into membership gifted, honest wedding photojournalists who work tirelessly to deliver excellent photography to their clients.” They believe that they help couples find the best wedding photographers “by granting membership only to the most talented professional wedding photographers in the world--photographers who focus solely on using their documentary photography skills to capture ‘the moments’ of your wedding day.”

The WPJA site is a great resource for couples planning their wedding photography - have a look at the Wedpix magazine for some great, real-life guidance on what a journalistic approach to wedding photography can give you.

Claire & Paul's wedding at Horton Grange

Claire and Paul got married in April at St Mary's Church in Stannington, Northumberland.  Then we whizzed off to the wonderful Horton Grange Country House Hotel near Ponteland.  Horton Grange is a gorgeous wedding venue with beautiful gardens and great food.  You can even get married in their garden now - I know because they asked me to shoot the official launch pics for their new Garden Ceremonies!

Claire, Paul and all their guests had an amazing day, and it was a real pleasure to part of their celebrations.  Their wedding reception was definitely one of the best I've ever seen.  That crowd really knew how to party!

Oh yeah, and if you look really hard at Paul’s best man and Claire’s bridesmaids, you may recognise a beautiful couple whose wedding I photographed last year - the slideshow on my web site’s home page gives a clue!! ;-)

Congratulations Claire and Paul.  Thanks for letting me be part of such a great day!
